Licheng District Meteorological Observatory issues yellow typhoon warning signal

At 09:23 on July 19, 2025, the Licheng District Meteorological Observatory upgraded the typhoon blue warning signal to a typhoon yellow warning signal: Typhoon Wipha, the 6th typhoon of this year, is located in the northeast of the South China Sea, about 850 kilometers southeast of Yangjiang City, Guangdong Province. The maximum wind speed near the center is 10 levels (25 meters/second, strong tropical storm level), and it is expected that Wipha will move towards the northwest at a speed of 20-25 kilometers per hour, gradually increasing in intensity. Affected by it, it is expected that in the next 24 hours, the northeast wind in Beigao Town and Xindu Town in our district will reach 7-8 levels with gusts of 9-11 levels, while the northeast wind in other towns and streets will reach 5-6 levels with gusts of 7-8 levels. Please take precautions!

Within 24 hours may be or has been affected by tropical cyclones, coastal or land average wind force is 8 or more, or gust can reach 10 or more and may persist.

Guidelines

1. The government and relevant departments shall make emergency preparations for typhoon prevention in accordance with their duties;

2. Stop large-scale indoor and outdoor gatherings and high-altitude outdoor dangerous operations;

3. Water operations in relevant waters and passing ships take active countermeasures to reinforce port facilities to prevent ships from anchoring, grounding and collision;

4. Reinforce or dismantle structures that are easy to be blown by the wind, and personnel should not go out at will, to ensure that the elderly and children stay in the safest place in the home, and those in dangerous houses should be transferred in time.
