Total snow accumulations 1 to 3 inches, with higher amounts in the Foothills of the Sandia and Manzano Mountains. * WHERE...Middle Rio Grande Valley including the Albuquerque Metro Area, West Central Highlands, Upper Tularosa Valley, and San Agustin Plains and Adjacent Lowlands. * WHEN...From 2 PM Saturday to 8 AM MST Sunday. * IMPACTS...Plan on slick road conditions. This includes portions of I-40 and I-25. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Rain showers today through Saturday morning will transition to snow Sunday afternoon/evening when snow levels drop to valley floors.

* WHAT...Heavy snow. Total snow accumulations between 4 and 8 inches across much of eastern New Mexico with higher amounts of 8 to 16 inches above 9,000 feet. Localized areas in eastern Torrance, Guadalupe, and De Baca counties will receive between 8 and 10 inches. Bitterly cold temperatures will accompany the snow. * WHERE...Much of central to east central New Mexico, including Interstate 40 from Tijeras to Santa Rosa to the Texas border. * WHEN...Until 8 AM MST Sunday. * IMPACTS...Travel will become very difficult to impossible for an extended period of time, most notably along I-40 from Tijeras Canyon to the Texas border. The weight of accumulating snow will stress the power grid, potentially creating outages. An extended period of cold temperatures will increase the risk of frostbite and hypothermia. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Bitterly cold temperatures will also accompany this winter storm, with the coldest temperatures in the eastern plains of New Mexico. Temperatures will be coldest Sunday and Monday mornings when much of the eastern half of New Mexico will be in the single digits with wind chills below zero.

* WHAT...Heavy mixed precipitation expected. Total snow and sleet accumulations between 3 and 8 inches except 16 to 20 inches above 9,000 feet in the Sacramento mountains. Total ice accumulations of less than one tenth of an inch. * WHERE...Eastern Lincoln County, South Central Mountains, Curry County, Roosevelt County, Chaves County Plains, and Southwest Chaves County. * WHEN...Until 11 AM MST Sunday. * IMPACTS...Travel will become very difficult. Tire traction will be reduced. Extend the distance between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you. The hazardous conditions will impact the Friday evening commute. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Dangerously cold temperatures will also accompany this winter storm. Temperatures will be coldest Sunday and Monday mornings when wind chills will drop below zero. A period freezing rain may occur tonight before precipitation transitions over to snow, with eastern portions of Roosevelt and Curry counties the most likely receive ice accumulations.
