At 2:08 p.m. MDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing strong wind gusts, loonie to ping pong ball size hail and heavy rain.This severe thunderstorm is located northeast of Calgary and is moving east at 20 km/h.###Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are expected to produce damaging hail, wind or rain.

Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.Thunderstorms will develop along the foothills early this afternoon and move eastward to the Saskatchewan border by this evening. Some of these thunderstorms may become severe.The risk of severe thunderstorms will end late this evening.###Large hail can cause significant damage and injury.
